Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in specific - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's initial trophy since the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt from that period of the previous year.

Success also means Medvedev has won 21 championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in that event earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching strategy and recurring outbursts on court had caused commentators to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete assertively, backed up by an improved serve.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The competitors traded breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden tour victory, took control to create a third set.

The opponent saved four early break points in a competitive final set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner secured victory with a rally at the net area, with his opponent failing to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
